Roof Repair & Replacement

Do I need a Roof Replacement?

Roof Replacements could be needed based on a variety of factors.

  • Is there widespread storm damage or other roof damage?
  • Was the roof installed more than a decade ago?
  • Is there a buildup of roofing materials in your drains, downspouts, or gutters?

When making the decision to have your roof replaced there are various items to look for. Some may notice loose granules from your roofing material that shed over time, if you notice heavy granular loss this can lead to leaks or other roof issues.

With older roofs you may notice vegetation growth, this can show that you do have an older roof, but it may not need to be replaced immediately but should be on the list of items to tackle.

Roof leaks into the attic or the home can be an emergency replacement or an item that moves a roof replacement to the top of your list.

Dark Spots or Dark Streaking on the inside of the roof on the roof decking means that moisture is making it past the roofing material and is saturating the roof decking. This may not be a visible interior leak, but the interior is receiving water.

Lifted, Cracked, or curled shingles can be a telltale sign that the roof is showing signs of wear and age. Lifted, cracked, or missing shingles invite the possibility of weather elements making it past the roofing material.

What is a Roof Repair

What is a Roof Repair?

Some Roofs may not need a full replacement. Some areas can be replaced in singular fixes or by replacing a section of the roofing material.

  • Roof Repair is most common after a storm to replace shingles or other roofing materials that have been wind-blown, damaged by debris, or separated roofing elements from piping, skylights, or other vent surrounds.

Other roofing repairs can be preventative repairs like removing debris buildup, corrective repairs to fix structural elements of the roof, and shingle/skylight/gutter repairs to assist in weather resistance, aesthetics, or structural elements.

What Type of Roofing Options are Available?

There are many different types of roofing materials available for all different types of aesthetics, use, building types, and desired resiliency & maintenance.

1.

Asphalt Shingles

Asphalt Shingles are some of the most common roofing materials you will see. They are composed of fiberglass, mineral granules, and asphalt/tar components to hold the material together. These will usually carry a 20-30-year warranty and are easy to replace singular shingles, and almost all roofing companies have experience with Asphalt Shingles.

Metal Roofing can be one of the most useful and popular roofing materials in colder climates & it is one of the most resilient and long-lasting materials available. Metal roofing is a great choice for extreme weather conditions, fireproofing, commercial buildings, & homes looking for long-lasting, low maintenance, & protective options for roofing. Metal roofs commonly last 30-50 years. The installation of metal roofing can require specialty knowledge for installation procedures.

Wood Shakes & Shingles

Wood Shakes & Shingles offer many benefits but can have their disadvantages as well. They are not recommended for high moisture environments, areas with high wildfire risk, or if the consumer is looking for a low-maintenance option. They do however usually demand the most aesthetically appealing option for roofing materials. In dry climates, wood roofing can last up to 60 years, and in various other climates, you could expect up to 20 years.

Solar Shingles

Solar Shingles or Solar Slates are a new technology to the market that fuses your roofing material with solar panels. The solar tiles are mixed with active and inactive tiles to create a seamless look and constructive roof solution. With a roof solution like solar tiles, maintenance is key, and additional hardware will be required to fully utilize your solar roof. The average lifespan is around 20-25 years and is usually easy to replace if there are issues.
